about

Deep Pacific Northwest vibes on these hardware explorations from Journeymann Trax, the ghosted side project of Vancouver producer Bobby Draino. These tracks chronicle a summer of dank late-night voyages into the lush realms of British Columbian consciousness, full of hazy epiphanies, vibed out percussion, hypnogogic synths, emergent harp flourishes, softly acid-tinged arpeggios and a misty backdrop of forestial atmospherics.

47 minutes of meditative, flotational house and techno abstractions eventually open out into the temperate and pure glow of closing track “Ice Sheets”, though this warm, textural backdrop is ever-present throughout “Smoke Tape”. Journeymann's excursions bring the listener along with him wherever he goes.

Three of these voyages bring fellow Canadian producers and 1080p affiliates D. Tiffany and Khotin into the fold, but ultimately “Smoke Tape” is born out of isolation; constantly tripping through hazy personal explorations until finally reaching a state of blissful transcendence. A place where the smoke has passed and the sun has risen, its rays lighting up the canopy, giving us a fresh, dewey view of Cascadian beauty.
